Bathrooms
Only the Ellington has a private bathroom. The Harlem Flophouse was originally built as a single-family home in the 1890s. On the upper floors, there are four bedrooms, each with a sink in the room. They share two full baths with antique clawfoot tubs. The baths have antique brass and chrome fixtures.
Beds
Each room has one FULL-SIZED bed. A single-sized cot with linen can be provided for no extra charge upon request.
Children
Children are welcome. Children under twelve are free. Keep in mind that the room capacity max is 3, with an exception for toddlers and infants but no more than four under any circumstances. Please bring a sleep seat/infant carrier for infants.
Parking
Free parking can often be found on the street. Please read the signs for specifics. There is a secure lot at the corner of 122nd Frederick Douglass Blvd. Overnight parking ranges from $40 – $60 in NYC, while weekend parking ranges from $20 – $37.

We do not serve breakfast, but there are many excellent options, from the simple to the luxurious, within a short walking distance. See Dining
Availability
The web calendar you access at our site is the same one we use to determine availability. Because of the volume of emails we receive, we can only answer those for which we can offer accommodation.

Air Conditioning
The Harlem Flophouse has individualized climate control for each room. The rooms are preset to an agreeable temperature prior to your arrival. If it is too hot or too cold, let us know, and we will adjust it. If you want it turned off completely, please let us know. The house was designed and built in 1890, prior to the advent of modern air conditioning. Each room has two windows and it drafts nicely. There is a fan in every room. There is also a 50M free swimming pool a two-minute walk from the house in Marcus Garvey Park.

Yes, we have a cat. Her name is Phoebe.
POLICIES
Cancellation Policy
The guest will be charged the cost of the first night if they cancel after the reservation and the total price of the reservation if they cancel in the 14 days before arrival. The guest will be charged a prepayment of the cost of the first night after reservation and the remaining amount in the 14 days before arrival. Deposits are non-refundable.
Room Selection
Except for The Ellington, room selection does not guarantee that you will receive that room. From time to time, we must make adjustments in order to maximize our occupancy. While each room is unique in character, they are identical in size and accommodation.
Arrivals/Departures
We do not have a 24-hour concierge service. You will receive information on contactless check-in shortly before arrival. You can drop off bags anytime after 9 AM. Check-in is at 3 pm. If your room is ready earlier, we will contact you by email. THE LATEST CHECK-IN TIME IS 11 PM. Please do not make a reservation if you have a flight that arrives any time after 9 PM.
Check-out is at 11 am. An extra fee of $50 will apply for late check-out. Late check-out is at 5 pm. Please leave keys in the room door or in the key box by the door.
Housekeeping
The price quoted is the basic room price. This price includes a set of fresh sheets and towels. Additional housekeeping (beds made, fresh towels, room tidy, etc.) can be added at $50 per visit.
Damages
Rooms may be assessed for damages and guests may be charged accordingly. The replacement fee for lost keys is $50.
Smoking
There is no Smoking in any of the rooms or anywhere inside The Harlem Flophouse. Smoking in a guest room is considered as damage due to the expense we incur to remove the odor.
Valuables
Please do not store valuables in the room. We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.
Privacy Policy:
We respect and are committed to protecting your privacy. We may collect personally identifiable information when you visit our site. We also automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, cookie information, and the page(s) you visited. We will not sell your personally identifiable information to anyone.
Security Policy:
Our booking engine, SuperINN.com, uses a VeriSign Extended Validation SSL which gives Web site visitors an easy and reliable way to establish trust online. Only SSL Certificates with Extended Validation (EV) will trigger high security Web browsers to display a green address bar with the name of the organization that owns the SSL Certificate and the name of the Certificate Authority that issued it. The green bar shows site visitors that the transaction is encrypted and the organization has been authenticated according to the most rigorous industry standard.
